The Road-Book
The road-book is yours. It guides you through all the rally, so during the recce, do not hesitate to add all kind of marks and remarks that could help you the D-day (signs, buildings, trees etc…)
You can colour all the pages relative to a stage and during the rally, when arriving at the start of the stage, don't forget to prepare the road book at the stage's page end, so when clearing the stage, the road book should be ready for the road section.
If you have only one road-book for the whole rally, separate visibly the pages relative to the different legs.
One of the most important things starting is to read the entire road book. It might happen that some page are missing or ha ve too many.
The Recce
There is not much to say about recce as they are part of the rally. They are controlled and the timing is tight.
Personally, I used I.G.N. map a the scale 1:100 000 (1cm = 1km) to come back at the beginning of the stage as directly as we can. For rally on gravel, don't forget to take a comfortable cushion with you as the recce are done with the rally car…
Time Cards book:
This is the most important document! Even before the pace-note book. If you loose it, you retire straight away. In the car, choose a place to keep it and don't change it. At the service park, keep it on you (You can fold it to put it in a pocket). In case of problem in the stage, keep it as long as you can. That's one of the first thing a marshal will ask you. Give it to him if you are and only if you are sure to retire. Don't forget that all the time you have it, you are considered still racing, so still taken in charge by the organisation…
